This morning my Ornate is acting like he can't submerge without a lot of struggling.
I am currently treating the 210 gallon tank for a mild case of ick.
THE ONLY THING DIFFERENT: i Started that 2 days ago - my Severum got a little - probably from some goldfish feeders.
All the wood and rock has been removed and the UV is now on 24/7.
I am using a treatment (I forget what it is called - got it from one of the better LFS in the area - it is what they use)
It is real strong stuff - so I have been using it real sparingly.
The clown loach's, ghost knife, and peacock eels were removed before treatment.
I also did about a 50 to 60 percent water change before I started treatment and hooked up an air supply to the power head to assist in moving the water more.
The ONLY thing I can think is that the Ornate may have got too much air in him ... the power head pumped a ton of air into the water in very small bubbles.
ANY IDEA'S?
Is he doomed??
The 2 Senegal's and the Rope fish in the same tank are fine with no effect at all.
Thanks in advance!!
This is one of the most common things to hear about with polypterus. IME, they get over it fine by themselves, just need to pass some gas.
