while i dont like how they keep their fish, its not gonna stop me from shopping there, sorry! i hate going there, but they have everything i need at low prices...

thats the most hypocritical thing i've ever heard LOL. and besides the fact of how they treat their fish, i would never shop at wal-mart simply because of how they treat mom & pop business' in america.

hypocritical? how? yeah, i think walmart is ghetto and there are ghetto people that go there, but if i want to shop there, why not? i can talk crap all i want about walmart; i still shop there. hypocritical? who gives a rats behind. i say what i like and i will shop where i want.

how they treat mom n pop business? now that is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. youre obviously very naive just like the OP. so walmart is being "mean" cause a smaller business couldnt compete with them? thats just part of the game. if another business opens up and causes yours to go belly up, you shouldnt have been in business anyway. thats just how it is

get a clue man, seriously

If petco/petsmart moves in and puts your favorite LFS out of business do you say that?

and all these finger-pointing hippies that like to blame walmart for all these hiring practices and other garbage. wtf is that all about? last time i checked nobody held a gun to these people's head and made them work at walmart.

if they dont like the work conditions at walmart, get a damn education or the skills you need to better yourself and get a better paying job. its simple as that. this society is so sissified these days. nobody wants to take responsibility for their own life. always quick to point the finger and blame somebody else for the mess your in.

these views make me sick

no mom and pop shops went under when both walmarts opened in my area.. and if any did that im unaware of they were not that good... hell i got 2 small mom and pop hardware stores 5 min away from my home depot and they still do great buissness... corperate stores dont ruin companys... they ruin themselves

apples to oranges. youre talking about a very specialized interest that deals with one thing only, fish or pets. most LFS ive seen still stay in business because they know how to compete with these big corporations like petco and petsmart. they carry cooler and harder to find fish, they have better selection, better prices, knowledgeable employees etc.

if you cant find ways to stay alive in the business world, then im sorry, you should have never opened up shop. its a brutal world. thats life

its a trend nationwide to open up LFS very close to Petcos/ Petsmart due to the fact that they bring in alot of entry level hobbyist who end up going to the independents........ It is very easy for a LFS to take advantage of the restrictions that bind large chainstores.........

i can't vote in this poll, i do NOT and will NOT shop at Walmart or any other store they own.

and yes, i sometimes pay more for what i need. but i will NOT take part in the selling of our country to the rest of the world.

that happens at most LFS...... if this logic is true then everyone who walks into a "good" lfs will be a lifelong fish keeper??? its and #s game and % wise its all the same...... BTW as of 2yrs ago Walmart did cut back on how many store carry fish...... by about 30-40%..... hows that for shaping up.......?

I agree, but you know what i mean. I bet someone who gets proper advice is more likely to have a successful experience and/or stick with it.
