Is it getting under you skin? Why does it bother you so much that people care about something? Not shopping at wal mart isn't going to save the world, not eating meat isn't going to end cruelty...and so on. So why would someone do those things? To not have it on their chest, to not feel guilty, to not support it? There a number of reasons that are apparently over your head?

Do you vote? Or do you think because of the electoral college you're vote doesn't matter? If everyone had your attitude the world would be really damn dark.

i dont think its that. its just that most folks here talk to us like were the scum of the earth and the 'bad' people because we shop at a certain store. its kind of petty if you ask me. we just defend our views as you defend yours. thats all it is

basically what he said.... and im just speaking my opinion... when things as stupid as this are made to be the most important thing in the world yea it gets under my skin a lil... not to mention being told just because i shop at walmart i support there fish i could care less about those common dumb pacu or oscars or other fish they sell...

just like almost every other large buissness in america cry me a river again why do you people care so much about things you can never change...

That is the kind of attitude that makes it impossible to create change. It is the same kind of attutude of people who ***** about our government or the laws then don't get off their ass and vote. A defeatest attitude.
Oh we can't change it so we will sit here in our little home and watch the world go by.
If you want change you have to get involved and create it.

yeah i noticed that. but i noticed that a lot of people like to complain about walmart because the way they treat their workers; low pay, no health insurance, etc etc.

last time i checked, i dont know of any corporate stores that pays its cashiers and guys that pickup carts $50k and give them health benefits.

honestly, what do people expect? they pay them low wages because that's what their worth. at least theyre out there working and trying, rather than sitting at home collecting govt assistance...

No one forced these people to get jobs there, they chose to. Yes, most of these people are immigrants. You want to complain about immigrants? Every immigrant with a forged work visa still has taxes deducted from every single check. You know how many of them don't file their income tax return out of fear of being discovered as working illegally and deported? A lot of them.

Supply and Demand works for more than just products, it talks about labor too. If you raise minimum wage to $20 and hour what's going to happen to those business who rely on people who do jobs that are worth less than $20/hr? They will get rid of those jobs, or find a more cost efficient way of doing it. This is why most economists hate minimum wages. It may not be nice, but the simple math is that there has to be these jobs out there so you can make your middle of the road income and live with your 2.5 kids and a dog. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not true.

While I try to support specialty stores when I can on principle, no one is forcing you to live in a capitalistic economy. I hear Cuba isn't that far away, go check it out. You have the choice to not give wal mart your business, as any other person has a right to do as they choose. Stop mixing up morals and economics, you can't call people hypocrites for one thing when you are guilty of another.

very well said. and the part that is bold/underline is very true. this pretty much debunks the common idiot's argument that immigrants don't pay taxes, but that's a whole separate issue.

Uh, I'm not the one who took this down the path of the law of supply and demand, immigration law, etc, etc.

These 12 members disagree with that assertion:

I'm pretty sure you need the owners permission before you can write a letter and include MFK in it.

as a standard policy we dont get involved with any kind of petitions.. we like to stay a neutral as possible.

Walmart=$$$ lots of $$$ two years ago they were the #1 chain store fish buyer in the nation...... bigger than Petco and Petsmart combined......

$$$= people/companies competing in this market

Competition= inovation and advancment of the market

Good market= happy MFK.......

i know is overly simplistic but im just trying to show the other side of the fence....... we need corporate giants like Walmart, petco, petsmart etc..... they are the ones that spend $$$ to promote the industry therefore bringing in new hobbyist and more $$$ to the advancement of the hobby....... i can go on about this forever but i got work to do........

one example is those pieces of paper that they send to you that clogs up you mailbox...... for some reason it makes hundreds of thousands of people want to go to walmart to buy things they really don't need....... like fish!!! i dont know of any LFS that has nearly the amount of foot traffic that walmart has........ More people in the hobby equals more people like yourself who want to make a differece in the hobby...... some start threads some develop new filters and some even become importers who sell back to the stores....... you seem to missing the point..... not all walmarts are the same........ % wise all LFS SUCK!!!

that happens at most LFS...... if this logic is true then everyone who walks into a "good" lfs will be a lifelong fish keeper??? its and #s game and % wise its all the same...... BTW as of 2yrs ago Walmart did cut back on how many store carry fish...... by about 30-40%..... hows that for shaping up.......?

its a trend nationwide to open up LFS very close to Petcos/ Petsmart due to the fact that they bring in alot of entry level hobbyist who end up going to the independents........ It is very easy for a LFS to take advantage of the restrictions that bind large chainstores.........

A point I brought up earlyer too, I would like to know how you knwo that the majority keep fish in deplorable conditioins - untill you visit every single one you cant really say that.

Also the poll - I didnt vote as well as a number of people in this thread who stated they did not vote - I cant vote in any of the above poll options b/c none will apply to me or my views/opinions.
