My favorite is that convicts are the only cichlid. They start out I have cichlids you know those grey fish with the black stripes. Then there are the ones who call cichlids chick lets. What does make me feel good though is how people are starting to compliment our ma and pa shop or aka basement setup.

"Do you guys sell allergy eaters?"

"What about chi-childs?"

"...This fish food says it's a balanced fish diet, but my fish doesn't need to loose weight; so do you carry regular fish food?"

"Can these fish make it in the bag until tomorrow?"

"Can you get me the goldfish with the most gold on it?"

Haven't worked in an lfs put I have lounged around in them enough to witness most of these!

The worst is seeing people buy 5 goldfish for those kiddy themed 20 litre tanks, buying the tank at the same time as the fish so that you pretty much know there is a 99% chance none of those fish are seeing the end of the week.

Some of my "favorite" customers are the ones who think they're badasses because they have a red tail cat, a pacu, a clown knife and a gar that eats tons of goldfish... All housed in their "monster" 125.

I had a guy come in saying he had a rtc. I asked how big and he said around 8", so I say wow you got a young one. Turns out he had it in an 80 for 2 years and it stopped growing. It was kept with 2 Oscars. But the Oscars died for "no reason" one day.

Used to be. I remember being more than elbows deep in a gravel wash/water change on a 300 when a customer asked; "Do you work here?"

Same kinda stuff here...climbing out of a display tank in a wetsuit - "Hey, do you work here?" No, I fell in dressed this way, and I need to talk to a manager right away. This is not safe.

Or my other favorite "How do you get in there?" To which I now tell people "I use a door in the back. The trick is to open and close it really fast so the water doesn't drain out."
