That's debatable. I personally would feel no allegiance to some tool profiting from black market trade of an endangered species already decimated by anthropogenic hindrances. Whether I would post online that I was going to "snitch" however is a different matter.

Guys quit bein so harsh on a 14 year old kid. He wanted to keep the thing, and didnt know of the severity of this. Arttyfish, youre foolish for thinking this type of thing is "snitching" its a serious deal and should never have gotten sold. You should still call fish and wildlife and tell them it happened, so they can check in on the store when it happens again so theyre aware of the situation.

So if you were the victim of a violent crime, you wouldn't mind if every witness kept their mouth shut, you know, just so that they wouldn't snitch on stuff that didn't pertain to them?

If everyone had that mentality the world would be a much uglier place.

Bro, this isn't prison. It's a fish-keeping forum. Do we really need to cover why we care about the morality and legality of this more than inmates in your local county? Stop pretending like you once shanked a guy for trash-talkin' your old lady. No one cares how hard you are.

To the OP: this sort of thing is common, but not usually so apparent. Next time call the DNR or F&W asap. Reading up on the legalities of keeping certain animals is a good idea, because it helps you make choices that are both moral and smart: the fines for keeping some of these endangered species are astronomical.

That's not the mentality to have in this hobby. Any illegal activity within this hobby should not tolerated. It would be irresponsible to not report him.
