So I go into a lfs to check out their stock. I was not crazy about this particular shop to begin with (you can always tell when people think way to highly of themselves and that would describe the whole staff there) but now they will never be getting my business again. I came across a very amazingly colored blue and red peacock cichlid that I was instantly attracted to. I had to decide between buying him or a peppermint shrimp for my saltwater. I decided to go with the peacock because there will always be peppermint shrimp out there to buy but I haven’t come across a peacock with color like this in Tulsa before. I told the owner that I wanted him and he went and bagged him for me. Now I thought it was odd that the guy didn’t show me the fish once he was bagged, he just stuck him directly into the shopping bag and told his employee to ring it up. But I generally give people the benefit of the doubt so I didn’t say anything about it right away. So when I get to the car I check him out. He totally has a recessed eye obviously from a previous pop eye infection. I was livid that they guy would try to sell me a sick/injured fish without even mentioning it, and then go above and beyond that try to hid it from me and hope I didn’t notice. So I decided that I still wanted the fish because he is beautiful but that I wasn’t going to let the guy think he got away with it. So I went back in and said “first off I still want the fish”, before I could say anything he says “oh you mean the eye” and he went on to say that he must have forgotten to mention it and that was why it was so cheep (cheep my ass, I paid $13 for the little guy, he is only like 2:eek: inches). Some of you might remember my previous post about not being taken seriously in hardware stores because im a petite female, but this is ridiculous. He obviously thought I didn’t know what I was doing, Moral of the story even though the fish may look fine in the tank, always check them out in the bag. And do us all a favor and call people on trying to pass off injured/sick fish as being healthy. Grrrrr.

I am glad you got a fish you like. And hope that guy thinks twice before he tries to slip something pass another customer.

Definatly inspect the fish in the "clear :) transition box" (whats the right word!!!) before it's bagged..........!!:)

unfortunetely I had a similar incident pulled on me, and I got a neon with NTD in my tank that killed off half my neons.

That calls for a stiff cockpunch. I hate cocky fast pulling LFS'
