Over the years I have had a few favourite local haunts to meet with other fishkeepers,
see new products in the box, and collect some new specimens for my fish room.
What makes a local fish shop exceptional to me is not so much the selection and variety, or fanfare and lavish tank set-ups but an obvious and genuine interest in the staff to support the hobby in their patrons.
My career has allowed me the oportunitty to move around more than most and I have frequented LFS all across Canada. The common thread in the best has always been a willingness to help you find that certain widget or unique animal that is the missing the piece in an aquatic system you're building.
My current favourite for those living in southern Ontario is the; Tropical Fish Room located in Brantford Ontario.

Go to this place everyone is very nice and knowledgeable they have a huge 800gal. freshwater showtank which has a bunch of flowerhorns, a big silver arowana(pushing 3') two perruno cats about 15"-20", a TSN about 12", bunch of pictus cats, some nice jaguar cichlids, and like two florida gars.

all fish are healthy and they carry some exotic freshwater and marine fish like today i got a royal clown knife from him very healthy and in perfact condition.

they also do custom tanks any size you want

they get some nice freshwater puffers in i have a bronze puffer from there i got it almost a year ago.

they are very very polite and listen to you when you talk unlike *cough*Ricks*cough*

they keep all healthy and beautiful fish

so i highly recomend this local fish store!
