LFS whants ornate back?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Offer to return it for the price paid, plus gas, plus the payment for your time (6 hours round trip) at you current wages. I think they will decide to write it off instead.

I worked at a LFS for 4 years and every once in a while we would get a newbe that would do something like this. This is completely their fault! We would have never asked a customer no matter how well we knew them to bring the fish back! One time a new girl sold a saltwater flame angel for a flame scallop..which is about $70 difference! It sucks but it was still our fault!

it's up to you. you want to bring it back it's your decision. my opinion is to meet him halfway (although it was the store's mistake). keeping the good relationship with a LFS you want to buy quality fish is your long term goal. if you burn the bridges on them.. and they get some fish you want... then you might not get the best deal. looking on a bigger picture, traveling that much is also a waste of time and gas. do the math and maybe just send him a check or money order, $.39 of stamp isn't too bad than 3 hours of your time and gas.:)

I'm with Guppy here. This is a perfect time to step up and be a man. Tell them that you don't want to pay for their mistake, and that means your not paying the full mark up. Discuss the other expenses as Guppy said, odds are they will call it even and you lose no respect. Just because it's someone else's fault doesn't mean you have to be a jerk. The store knows that it's their fault already, they'll negotiate. :iagree:

If they want that much to begin with it doesnt sound like they have good deals anyway! lol

dont do it instead of giving it back tell them to stop hiring unknowledgable people who dont know a thing about the fish they are selling and start hiring people who do know...oh ya and tell him to just take the lost for his employees stupidity. i have seen a guy buy a lachardti arowana for 125 instead of the 299 it was meant to(i didnt want to say anything to the guy bagging it up cause that would have spoiled the buyers fun)...that store sucked it up and took the lost ...i know that was kind of mean cause everyone else is posting positive solutions and im telling you to tell them to go screw themselves but hey thats just me. i personally would call and tell them that i dont think i should have to pay or return a "product" that was sold to me at a cheaper price when it was the employess fault. obviously the guy who bagged it didnt know and who ever rang you up at a register didnt catch it so hey thats the stores lost. we have had newbies sell FH's as RD's now thats ridiculous. our juvie RD's are about $3 and juvie FH's range from $6 and up to about $30 is the highest ive seen...so even if the guy bough one of the cheapest he still got it at half price. thats all im saying it happens all the time and i think thats a bad relationship they as a business are starting with you their loyal customer...

ok I havent read every single post so sorry if I am repeating anybody but negligence is not an excuse once you handed them the money and they accepted the fish became your property and they could fight it all they want but will never get anywhere it is their mistake and not yours you win here... the only reason you would possibly give it back is to keep good standings with that store but IMO a store that is gonna ask for you to bring it back in isnt worth your business keep the fish and shop elsewhere

Tell him to jam it... his mistake and there isn't a thing he can do about it and he knows it!

He can't NOT serve you next time your there because you got a fish cheaper than it was suposed to be :screwy:

I'd give him updates every few months

Nice pickup... you better keep it!

I agree totally. Tell him to smarten up!
