if you get a common mud turtle, you are looking at a 3-4.5 inch turtle as an adult. common musk turtle, stays under 5 inches also

I agree that both these species are great beginner turtles and will be fine in that size tank for about a year. I've kept and bred both Kinosternon subrubrum and Sternotherus odoratus. Both species are very active and enjoy more space as adults that a 29 gallon tank can't provide.

pacman frog would work no prob in there.....wont utilize the height of the tank nor will it be as active though. its all what you want. go to a show, or a store by you and if something catches your eye then go home and research it and look into its cage requirements and set it up!!

hey vicious "If guns kill people...where are mine hiding all the bodies?" hahaha lol :) awesome

not worried bout whole tank bein utilized it is just what i have to work with, any aquatic frogs? how bout newts or salamanders? and will start looking around for shows i am out of state right now but wouldnt be setting anything up or buying the pet for 6-8 months

Thanks phantoms! :D

Yes, I think a Pacman would do just fine in a 29 gal. I've never kept them, but would like to someday.

hmm has anyone kept pac man frogs? and are tree frogs active when hunting or kinda pets you never see eat??

I've kept Gray Tree Frogs (Hyla versicolor) and Green Tree Frogs (Hyla cinerea) before. They both became active when I turned out the lights and added some live food to thier enclosure. You could make a pretty cool terrarium and keep a pair of either in a 29 gal.

what about an african clawed frog too big??

what about at axotol? very neat and i dont think get bigger then 9inches. here is wikpedias link about them http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axolotl my whites are more active at nights, but my female cb blue whites tree frog will hunt at any time of the day for food if i put it in there. she even eats out of my hand. african clawed frog should be fine, i think they only get about 6 inches

those look cool, am interested in most things and will accept less activity if aquatic not sure y. but would love a salamander or newt but want something that will accept live food and somewhat active.
