life spans of fish

I've owned my gar for 17yrs. I'm guessing he was a few years old when i for him. I see another 10 easy.

Sad day for me after several weeks of general lethargy lost my loach. 3 weeks short of his 25th. He measured 7.5" and weighed close to 1#.

Sad to hear. My record is only 10 years so far...for some goldfish.

Longest fish i had was probably my Polleni which lived around 17 years... My dad also had a lot of Koi that were quite old, but he gave them away to a friend of his when he retired from the the hobby...

Oldest fish I currently own is my 14 year old SAL. Had some five lined barbs that lived 10 to 11 years and a red bellied piranha that made it to 5

I have kept a RD for 11 years that's my record. IME cichlids can live 10-20 years with proper diet and clean water.

My longest was an 8 year old pleco, but I got him at ~10" so I'm guessing he was older than 8 when I gave him away
