Lighting for 75 gal tank

Right now I have the 10000k bulb in with a Power-glo (18000k) and it doesnt look to bad, much more natural looking than the actinic bulb. The fish dont seem to glow like some peoples tanks but they look pretty good. Does anyone use just a plain flourescent light fixture? I was thinking about buying a twin tube strip light that uses t8's because there seems to be a ton more options in those bulbs (especially in town)
if your gonna use a strip light may i make a suggestion of making it odon http://www.gwapa.org/articles/ODNO/ the bulbs have lasted bout two years in my friends tanks i don't have any pics to show you it is simple enough to make

Is there any danger involved with an overdriven light?
the only thing is the ballast Dr foster and smith don't say if it is electronic or magnetic the magnetic ones don't work the only danger i have ever known with them is they get a little hot i wouldn't touch em but other than that there pretty good why would you go with what Dr foster and smith have over the ones on the site the ones at the site can be bought for 4 to 8 bucks at home depot
