Not necessarily. Fish themselves don't really care about what light you buy, at least most don't.

African's visually benefit from actinic supplementation to bring out their colors. Maybe a 50/50 bulb.

I've always liked a lower kelvin bulb for CA/SA cichlids, 3400K.
 
For my African Cichlids, I'm using a florescent fixture with in 10k bulb and one actinic bulb. This is a standard saltwater light, I feel it brings out the colors in the fish. As already mentioned, the fish don't care.
