Lilly Pads in Native tank

Hey I was thinking I'd like to try some plants from the lake I got my bass at. In particular I'd like to try some lilly pads. Will these survive in my tank.

Its a 150 gallon. I just have normal florecent lighting. and a real fine gravel/rock substrate. 2 bass and 2 sunfish.

Here's a pick. Let me know if this will work in this tank.

I have never heard of someone doing it in a tank.

I have done it - They need very good light, and their rootstock is MASSIVE - more trouble than they are worth. I use lily bulbs from the lfs instead.

Do lily bulbs look like lilly pads?

I'd do that if they were similar. Do you have any pics?

I recommend you try a potted WL from a garden center. All lillies require a lot of light. Potted lilies usually come planted in a substrate such as peat that may include a slow release fertiliser as well. This may present some water quality issues for you. Keep an eye on your nitrate levels.
There is no doubt that the bass would apreciate the pads though.

Yes the ones at the store look similar - the one I like the best is the one with large red leaves - and do not need strong light either

ive grown water hyclianth in a fry tank before. 65 watts right above it in a 15, the one plant didnt let any algae grow and the fry loved hiding in the roots but it was more trouble than it was worth
