I hate being limited by the size of my 125 gal. tank. I went to pick up some krill at my fish store and I took my usual browse around, checking to make sure my future green terror is alright and all that. I noticed what looked to be little miniature bass and read the sign.... lukanani. I never saw a peacock bass in this store and it took everything in me not to buy a 1.5" baby at $10. I've wanted this kind of fish for ages and there it is right in front of me. I cant fit a peacock bass in my 125 in good conscience knowing that I wont have room for a bigger tank for a very long time to come. This does not make me happy. I heard they grow fast. The fish store guy said grow it out then bring him in to us and we'll put him in our monster tank. I was tempted but still not sure. what do you think? Is that a good idea?

I've got the same prob! I want an aba-aba knife really bad to keep in a tank by itself but I'm limited to a 150g tank with only 1.5 feet depth. I'm going to wait until I have bigger tank to house one in instead of using a smaller tank to grow it out in and assuming I'll have something bigger to keep him in later. Same applies to other fish I want but that's just my method of not going over my own head.

There will be other peacock bass in your future to choose from!

I'm wondering what kind of peacock bass the lukanani is exactly. I left a post in the peacock bass forum, but if anybody can answer, i'm all ears.

no clue, but I know how you feel there are always fish in my lfs I wanna get but I am limited to putting things in a 125gal and theres already enough fish in their =( it stinks!!

I feel your pain, only im limited to my 120 for the time being. If your talking bout lovely pets in Quincy, Ive never seen an peacocks there as well.

I say to you if you want that fish and would love to say you have had one do as the fish store guy said grow it out then bring him in to us and we'll put him in our monster tank I do this for a local shop all the time I get the fish for nothing grow it on and sell it back but the deal is he gets it back at a good price they normally end up as shop pets in the 9 ft I have had some great fish doing this red snakeheads Gars Gobies Tiger fish the list goes on and all this in a 6x2x2 next year will be different as hopefully the extension will be sorted and then I to can finely get my dream tank inside my house rather than a trip to my fish room.

i might do it, i dunno, i need help with what a lukanani is though... anybody know anything? im goin to the store now to take pictures.
