I bought the peacock cichlid along with the royal green terror. I cleared out a large portion of my 125 gal. to accomodate the peacock for less than a year. here's a pic of my new baby. wooooooooooooooooooooo. one of the kids at the fish store gave me the "thataboy, way to grow some balls" fist-pump-head-nod- approval as I announced that I will be taking a peacock bass. (I walked in there like a jackass and actually "announced" that I would be buying one, it was inadvertant though, im not that corny.) When he's too big they have about a 600 gal. tank to take him in to in a year or less. I'm excited and I'm in the market for a square tank 48/48/24 for my class room. This will be the home of my peacock bass if I get a chance to buy this. I need to find a tank this size now.

I feel you bro. I would get it and sell it back to your pet store and make a couple of bucks, since you won't be able to keep it when it gets bigger :( .

i might do it, i dunno, i need help with what a lukanani is though... anybody know anything? im goin to the store now to take pictures.
Took a couple tries but I found it. Lukanani is the common name for the Cichla ocellaris species in both Guyana and, for some ungodly reason, Sweden.

thanks for the info... the peacock bass experts on here ID'd it as cichla monoculus. I guess we'll all know what it is in 4 months.

my largest tank is a 125 too, when i got it i thought it was huge. i really knew nothing about aquariums at the time, now i think the tank is tiny. im planning on building a 350gal or so. i kills me every time i go to the lfs, becouse every fish that i want to keep needs so much more room to live comfortably. i think my 125 is already crowded with 4med size oscars, 2 med jd and a med 4line cat. guess i better get started on that 350....
