So Im headed toward using epoxy resin now, but where can I get one that is fish safe. I have searched pond armour, and rubberizeit (not epoxy?), but beyond that, is there anything else I can purchase. I plan to order soon. I know for sure they dont sell anything thats safe for fish here on Oahu.
-Thanks
Very nice info ithurtz! Ive been waiting to see another liner tank and some proof/results on 5200. Funny ive seen the pictures before but didnt know from where. It sounds like the pl sealant is very similiar to gold label. No odor and very very thick. Cant believe its fairly cheap aswelli may have to use this on my 3k. I have 3yrs. Running with gold label...how long have u you had a tank running with the pl sealant?

I forgot to comment on you being in Oahu. Have you looked at the other two builds here of MFK from posters in Hawaii? I think one was on the main island and the other from one of the smaller ones. I can't remember their user-names at the moment. The more recent of the two used polyester resin and a liquid rubber type product, both of which he found locally. I think the other may have used a tile membrane of some sort. I'll have to look it up later.
As far as ordering, I assume it's cheaper to order stuff from California? If so aeromarineproducts.com carries a marine epoxy resin I've heard good things about. I think Max ACR is also out of California.
Is there no distributor of pond liners anywhere in the Hawaiian islands? I would think there would be, but maybe it's just too expensive to stock much of anything there.
There are a few distributors on Oahu that sell pond lining. But after reading ithurtz previous post, Im headed more toward getting an epoxy, after seeing how I can get more for my buck. The dimensions of my tank are 78"x34"x36". And being that a gallon of either liquid rubber or sweetwater epoxy can get me more than enough sqft. per gallon. I decided to just be patient, and order it through them.
I looked through isaacs "500g piece of furniture) and actually used a few of his techiniques for making my build. But I cant find the other member from Hawaii. Im interested in finding out what he used to waterproof his tank, and see if its readily available here.
Really not sure on which method of "fish safe" epoxy to go with yet. I really wish they sold something of that type here locally. Mainly because I hate to have to wait on an order from the mainland. But Im sure it would be worth the wait.
