Welcome To Canada!!!

We will do all the breeding :P

and

you can all visit our zoo

and

we can have a better economy

and bringing back Asian Arowana back to US...

I doubt its going to happen with these laws and hearing looming in the shadow

^^

oh and if they have scientific prove to backup, but luckily they dont...

else, this bill would pass already :P

I dont think its gonna fly, think about all the money the govt is going to lose in taxing the importation of these animals...... its just some extremist trying to make his/her voice felt. Happens all the time. We need to actually ignite the economy and by getting rid
of the reptile/fish trade, your making it worse.

Not only from Taxing on importation but, I don't really think THEY have a clue on how much
THEY will further destroy the economy. How many people will be added to the Unemployment lines,
that THEY will then have to support. How much money that THEY will then lose from income tax.
THEY think the unemplyment rate is high now! Let it pass and watch it climb.

I wont even go into the idiocy of putting a ban on all species across the
board on all states. Extremism at its worst.:(

I can't live without my Herps.
This is stupid.
THis is like taking away the second
Amendmentl.

Maybe I will just introduce everything
To the states LOL.

I bet there would be a huge jump in invasives it went through due to many people dumping their animals at once.

Folks, read the bill before you debate it. It does not ban possession; no one will have to get rid of the pets they already have.

I don't support this bill, but I do think something similar will and should be enacted. Inform yourselves, take part in the debate, so on and so forth. But use actual facts, not alarmist hyperbole.

Personally i think that people should be allowed to own exotic animals but one thing i would love to see is the stop of importation of wild animals. I can name so many different species of monitors or snakes for example which are imported by the thousands each year and are sold for bascially nothing. These animals get huge yet they go home with people who cant really take care of it and in the long run they die and i think that is wrong. If some importation stopped it would be great in my mind as now people would have to actually breed the species instead of relying on wild caught animals. Also Florida is not the only place exotic animals get loose, its just a place if they due get loose they can survive. All over the US animals are let loose or escape but they end up dieing due to the fact they can survive the weather in those area.

Thats my 2 cents on that

Kinda like the same research they used to formulate this ridiculous bill? There are alot of examples where scientific data is not substantiated in proving that exotics or evasives as they call them are doing any damage to any environment. If anything our habitat encroachment and our pollution issues are something to worry about; if anything needs regulation it should be that.

I agree there should be regulation, much like what some PROACTIVE states are doing, like microchipping and licensing for more dangerous animals, limit the importation on mass quantities, and regulate petstores on the amount of fauna allowed in their stores.

This is an arguement that can go on forever. The fact of the matter is that it all has to do with alarmist mentality as you put it. I agree with you 100% on regulation, but people that are responsible and selling CB quality animals will be affected by the inter/intra ban on state sales of these animals. Again denting the economy and creating more hysteria to a bowl of hysteria that is almost to the rim.

BSMM I am fully against importation on mass scales, but I think that because so few zoological institutions are working with non-popular reptiles, I think as hobbyists we have a responsibility to maintain our animals and we can play a role (maybe a huge one) if and when these species are completely put towards the edge of extinction. We might have a lending hand in re population. We might play a role in captive programs etc. etc. Its something to think about specially when most reptiles we own come from less educated third world countries where conservation is last on the agenda when famine and disease is their main concern.
