my 11 yr-old sister wants to keep a betta fish. what size of tank suitable for one betta and can plants give it enough oxygen without an air pump? need some advice. thank you.

Hi,
Bettas are great! I have 3. Each has its own 5 gallon tank, which is the perfect size! They really do use the whole tank. It's nice and small, but not too small.
This size tank is nice because it's big enough for one nice decoration, plus a driftwood/plant combo from PetCo (Anubias) - looks great, and the bettas do well.
I honestly do not even use a filter or pump on the tank - it's not needed. Do use a 25 W heater, though. Many people don't even use a heater, but if your room gets cold, you will want one. The fish are much more active with a little heat, as well.
thanks guys for all ure suggestions.yup, will buy a filter. but i saw many people dont use filter. hahah btw, im in a tropical country which can get very hot as well.
my sister loves the crowntail betta, haha. saw one in a lfs and theyre are beautiful.
can a 2 feet tank suitable for bettas? just askin cuz i havent purchased a 5 gallon tank.
I have my betta in a ten gallon tank and he uses every inh of it. This guy is going on two years old. My last one lived to be three. I have no filter running but I do 50 % changes twice a week. Water chemistry stays where is should be. He is as responsive as my red devil. Definitely the most under rated and under appreciated fish out there.
Cannot keep a breeding pair. Males and females do not work like that. He will kill her.
