well its also part of their nature to hunt, and if you're the kind of guy that cries about this kind of thing than obviously don't live feed lol... But i have also heard many stories about the snake dieing because of the live prey, in my opinion its not worth it to risk the snakes life on live feeding, especially if it is just for you're entertainment.

I agree just not worth the risk .
Like the poster above said if you must because snake won't take dead and other method doesn't work okay than fine .

But if you don't have to why complicate things .

What is the complication?

Either way, that animal is bred for the purpose of feeding. And either way, it is DEAD as a result. If you place so much more importance that this mouse, rat, rabbit or whatever, be killed before hand (Usually by blunt force) than means of natural god created animal prey behavior... then I can't help you.

The "complication" is why would I risk my snake being bit when I simply do not have to .

Easier to put the thawed mouse and that's it .

Live = risk of bite
Thawed= no risk of bite I will stick with thawed.

Thawed feeders have risks too. Many bacterias can grow inside dead rodents. You put faith that the feeder was properly raised, killed, frozen, and thawed.

I feed live.

I really do not have issues with this.

The Rabbit in the Video in my opinion Looks a little large for that snake.. but I am not a Pro.. I learned allot of what I know From here.

I do not disagree with reasoning for Dead feeding. But I don't think live feeding is bad.

I think it is personal preference. Thoguh I think feeding prey that is Larger than what I have been told is good for the snake, is Bad.

I feed Rats that are the size or just under the size of the middle of my Ball.. And if he looks still hungry.. I throwing in a Mouse or a couple small mouses.

I am still learning too.. So I will not get involved in the useless debate. Most of you know more than I. Though Right now I prefer the simpleness of live feeding. And When I get a Rat or mouse that is fiesty to say.. I do what I seen Don and Collette do to feed all their sankes.. I stun the mouse or rat and then feed. Stunning in my opinion is a ggod practice as well.. Though may not be or sound too humane to the rats or mouse being stunned.

i was looking at you tube and i found this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FbPJQqhQB8&feature=related
just out of curiosity i want to see other peoples views on live feeding.
btw eventhough my mams got a rabbit i dont mind live feeding (probably because the rabbit bites and scratches, iv got cuts all over my hand and arm).

The people who made that video were interested in watching their snake kill a rabbit. Nothing more. It's like feeding a fish a meal that is too large just "Because".
The one thing that never seems to come up in feeding discussions is the negative impact feeding live has on Reptiles in general. People, for the most part, HATE snakes and this video will do nothing but reinforce this perception. He is simply creating future generations of snake haters.
I fed live for a really long time and switched to f/t about 2 years ago. The creatures that snakes eat are generally regarded as cute and fuzzy by most, it's less horrific to see a snake eat something that is already dead in most folks eyes.

people are genrally bais about herptiles (as in they dont like them), so i wonder if it was people feeding snakes to rabbits ( if rabbits ate snakes, which they dont) would people express the same views as when someone feeds a rabbit to a snake.
