And what if you defrost a load, and half of what youve defrosted isn't taken? You cant stick them back in the freezer. Hence you lose half your money.Brooklynella;2128886; said:That could be true but we're splitting hairs. We're talking about very inexpensive pets to feed in the first place (Snakes). Live mice/rats require regular upkeep, food and water, bedding, one of those wheels to keep them from chewing each others legs off, etc. while frozen requires...a freezer. So, from a $$ position, we really are splitting hairs.
On a large scale (Like prof breeders) I think it is downright silly to feed live from a $$ perspective. I'll easily buy a hundred frozen mice right now for a 1/3 of retail price by simply talking to the pet shop and striking a deal with them.

Plus it takes pursading most of the time with F/T, which breeders generally don't have time for.
For very large scale breeders it is definately more cost effective to feed live.
My opinion? I prefer F/T for my own reasons. But I thought you may like some facts about their reasons having had this discussion with them. Not many breeders enjoy it, but as a sole income they need to for that extra profit.

With that said the video is just showing life, in the Animal world there are no rules so we as humans take advantage of that. In the end it's not much different than me catching crickets and bugs outside and tossing them in my aquarium so my fish can eat. If you stick a giraffe in a shark tank, it'll get eaten. If you let a huge snake crawl around on your floor with a rabbit hopping around it's likely going to get attacked. The same as if a child was crawling in the floor. Now, all that aside there may be a better way to do it, the Rabbit could have been put out of it's misery much faster but again it's life. I personally was not expecting the rabbit to scream, that made me shiver a bit and was quite disturbing. The neighbors must think someone is being beaten within an inch of their life over there.

Again, you are splitting hairs. Is there a less expensive animal to feed than a snake? Maybe Hermit Crabs?
