yah i agree!

feeders are 10 cents for a 3''er here...hikari massivore is $50 a bag here...

'' you get what u payed for. ''

exactly..
feeders are KEPT in disgusting condition.
i usually also see around 4-5 dead ones in the tank indicating disease

i think the answer
depends on they type and brand of pellet/s
and the type of feeder/s.

imo its very unlikely your fish will receive a good diet if you only feed it feeders, because theres no way to give it every type of insect or fish or invert it would eat in the wild, also theres no way you could make sure the feeders you get eat the correct variety of plants and foods they would in the wild, so they themselves would be healthy and have appropiate nutrient levels to pass on when consumed.
if you ask me if you feed only one or two types of feeders as the sole food of the animal your failing to give you pet a healthy diet.
you know who you are failures :headshake.

variety is the key as said above.

The question is too broad.

If you have a predatory fish, you should probably have a good part of the diet feeders. Not saying just feeders, or even over 50% of the diet, but IMO I think it should be in there. If you buy feeders from a fish store, I would say it's probably a bad idea... They keep feeder goldfish packed in aquariums where disease can easily spread.
If you raise the feeders yourself, it's probably pretty healthy and there shouldn't be anything to worry about. As long as you keep the fish healthy they could be fed to the larger fish.

Fish that aren't predatory would probably be much better off with pellets, insects, and worms.

Looking at these replies and the pics under your names, I thought I was on cichlid fish keeper. If I was into cichlids I would feed pellets to. But the world of aquaria is not as simple as keeping cichlids. There are actually fish out there that will not readily accept a pellet. Welcome to the world of top level predators. Were pellets get laughed at.
