  1. fish meal--aka- the left overs after all edible parts of a fish have been harvested for human consumption.
  2. krill meal--aka- same as fish meal, left overs of shrimp after all edible parts have been removed.
  3. Phosphorus-- sounds like great fish food, and its also used as a explosive.
  4. Brewers dried yeast-- at brewery's they can only use the yeast once for brewing then it becomes waste. Then it is sold to fed mills as a filler for several prepared non human foods.
  5. dried A. niger fermentation extract-- same manner as yeast.
  6. copper-- not sure why this is added. But I know in high levels it is toxic to fish.
  7. ouch

u should quote the response ur making ur statement towards. i find some people who read threads don't go back to check previous posts and may become confused. i've seen it to many times..

Both of you are being rude to each other, and I think this topic should stay alive so I ask you both to please stop.

Super, those ingredients are probably not the best. But through this whole topic it seems that high fiber is really what you need to keep your fish healthy (along with a variety of foods). IMO a variety of pellets along with insects/worms and, if your fish will eat them, peas/other veggies is probably the best diet you could give your fish.

Or buy hikari cichlid staple, it has max 13% fiber. Which is the highest I've found at the LFS.
Although high fiber content does help with the digestion, excess fiber will simply be expelled as the fish cannot utilize all the fiber it just consumed. Vegetarians obviously need high fiber due to the exceptionally long intestines but they have their limits as well. I would aim for fiber content no lower than 5% for vegetarians and 10% as the max if possible but 13% is not an issue as long as used moderately.

For predatory fish, check this.

I include the cichlid staple in everyday diet but I don't feed as much because it's hard to break up (rock hard! I don't know how my oscar crunches them).
Smaller fish get it every couple days and my oscar gets 2-3 pellets a day.
Do you mean too much fiber is unhealthy? Or too much fiber just leaves you with unused fiber?

The excess fiber adds up too much pollution. Key point is moderation. Anything in excess will do more harm than good.
