Sounds good. Super, sounds like your views of feeders come from feeders you bought. Usually LFSs keep them unhealthy but my LFS keeps good care of their feeders, and they all lived over a month in quarantine tank. Raising feeders yourself would ensure disease free feeders.
It also sounds like you were not quarantining them? Which is a must when buying feeders to feed your fish.

Massivore is good, but like it has been said, it's not a good idea to only give your fish massivore.


I have no problem with giving predatory fish feeders. The problem lies in the fact that some people seem to think they are "healthier" than pellets (which are designed to be healthy). I can only see feeders being as healthy as pellets if the feeders are fed the pellets regularly.

I guess if you raise your own feeders and feed them a diet that will benefit the fish they are intended for, there really isn't a problem. The argument that pellets are produced to support laziness is hogwash though.

The only thing I've ever fed my fish live is worms (earthworms, nightcrawlers)... They work great too. Especially nightcrawlers.

But didn't you JUST say that you lost fish to live feeders?
Did you even bother quarantining the feeders before you fed them? Sounds like your idea that feeders kill fish comes from not properly feeding your fish the feeders.

i feed my fish insects.. just not goldfish feeders..
and i did quarantine them

Ive made my statement very clear in previous posts. the best diet is a varied diet.

there nothing wrong with feeding the occasional healthy feeder. pellets and flake food should be staple though. frozen foods are great too, but should be feed more then feeders but not as much as pellets and flakes. earthworms are fantastic as well but in moderation just like everything else.
