depends how much you want to handle your lizard. i have only owned a leopard gecko as well, but i hear that tokays aren't fond of handling. plus, they climb walls.

if you want something you can take out and hold, i would recommend a bearded dragon or a uromastyx.

I'm looking for something that doesnt require very hot tanks.. and handling isnt a big issue to me i just enjoy watching them move and hunt food down.

I wld recommend chameleon the very basic ones. Not to good with handling. And if u go to screameleons.com it will help. All u need it cages couple plants and mister/dripper. And ur on ur way. And breed dubia roaches will help you

I looked at some websites and heres what I'm thinking now. I'm liking the tokay gecko and the i really like the panther gecko. Anyone ever kept these or know anything about them...

tokays are pretty easy to keep. they do get quite large. if you read reptiles magazine though there is some talk about them calming down quite well with regular light interaction to gain their trust. what size tank are putting your new lizard in? cresteds are way cool. they can climb plastic and glass as well but do better for handling.cresteds are also cool cause they dont eat live all the time. get the repashy diet and you only have to feed crix a couple times a week. im feeding my crested crix once a week. i think chameleons are a poor choice for anyone that wants to take out and handle their pet. they stress out way to easily and thus have a quick die off rate. they also stress out in hugh traffic areas of the house and even loud noises will stress them out. if you have a 40 breeder tank i would say get a mali uromastyx, a bearded dragon, or a blue tongue tank. even frilled lizards calm down like beardeds but they need a larger enclosure.

i have done alot of research on panther chameleons. i cant even start tho ask around on screameleons.com they will give u so much info more then i can

Panthers are pretty hardy, but last time I looked there wasn't a lot of information out there on them.

Cresties are easy and don't require hot tanks or live food. Young ones are really skittish and kind of hard to hold on to (pretty much like leos) but adults seem to tame down and be a bit calmer and more handleable.

Tokays are neat, but most have nasty temperaments.

Right now, i'm happy with my White's Tree Frog :D

i got tons of info from screameleons and plenty of other places. And breeding dubia roaches wld be great food source. They dont stink dont fly and cant climb glass

Go here, look around at ppls pics in the eye candy section, read about them, one of the coolest little things I ever got.In a kinder way I would like to know that you figured out what happened to yours just to make sure it dosnt happen again.Just make sure you read all you can on what you want, have it set up before you buy it,and dont skip any of the steps in care.Ive lost my share of herps when I first started but now with so much info out here its hard to go wrong unless something is real sick or your lizards in a car crash or something. So,check out that site, great great animals cresties are.Sounded like Yoda sorry. With all my years I would not say a tokay or cham.Go crestie. You can even find good deals if you dont mind one without a tail. They also have very simple food mixes.Anyways.
