  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks guys for helping me out, maybe if i try every had maybe i can get a 200+ gallon tank out of my parents, and i will be able to keep a lmb for life.

you could still get a lm just make sure you have someone to give it to when it gets to big or put it in a pond or somethin or save up for another tank while he lives in the tank you got for it now and when he gets too big hopefully youll have enough money to buy a bigger tank

the main prob i cant get a big enough tank is cause of my parents not letting me, money doesnt really have much to do with it. I think im go to write them a letter or something stating all the reason why i should be able to get a bigger tank.

just be really really nice and kiss theyre ass a lot...or just buy it anyway and tell them to deal with it..thats what i did when i got my 150 lol

haha, im plaing on building it not buying it. i wanna build a plywood and glass tank. that is 30x36x48. i think they would be like whats going on if i brought a bunch of wood home and what building it in the garage.

If I were you I would go longer and shorter. Those dimensions really limit what you can keep. BTW I am keeping a 2" LMB and a 3" bowfin in a 29 and next year they will go into my outdoor pond. You could consider doing something like that. Build a pond in you backyard big enough for a LMB and some sunfish or something like that and growing them out in a smaller tank indoors. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

If you are dead set on keeping a LMB have you thought about contacting a local youth center, educational museum, or some such as that. If you have the funds, someone may allow you to set up a tank or take over the up keep of one. In high school a friend of mine did that at a local educational science museum (granted he knew the people who ran the place) they had a large tank that they were going to get rid of because no one dealt with the up keep. he stocked it with bluegill and even did some minor fund raising to get money for a new filter.

you may get luckey and find a facility that has an existing set up that they no longer want to maintain, or they may be willing to allow you to set your own system up.

my 2 cents

so do you think 7'x2'x2' would be a better size. and thats a no go on the pond i have been asking for one for years now. the only thing i got out of it was an ok to a half barrel pond witch i still need to set up.

so your saying i would just have the tank like its my own but keep it at the place?

7'x2'x2' would be a good size to keep a bass in. If I am not mistaken that is the dimensions for like a 280 gal or something like that? If you could go like 7'x3'x2' that would be even better because you could keep almost any native you want with some obvious exceptions. Good luck with it.
