Local Club for fish dying???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I don't get to upset when I see crossbred fish, dyed fish, or tatooed one, Sick ones being sold, yes and I speak to the manager, The local Petsmart doesn't like me much because I have cost them sales. The way I handle the other stuff is to pass on to people looking at them that the fish will probably die soon after purchase and by not buying them myself.
I just think that fish have NO rights but people DO have responsibilities.

Did you just like... read the first post and just post your own little message? Did you even read all 4 pages?

I wasnt trying to imply that the entire club is no good, although it may have came out that way, but the thing I dont understand is the editing and deleting of posts (Unless there is some offensive text which then would be understandable). The first impression left (to me) by manipulating someones words is that they are trying to hide something. No offense meant to you or any of the other considerate members.

They deleted all of their posts on the subject to keep from having only bits and pieces.

We didn't delete their posts on any of the other forums... here is an example of one of the posts that is still there

Looking for a wild pair. Have found some nice ones with Jeff Rapps, but didn't know if there were any local.

Contact the different vendors coming to fish oddysey. One of them might be able to find something, but you are going to have to do it quickly!

So I hope this helps clear things up a little but I'm still waiting for a complete explanation from the web master.

To clear all things up, I did make a post that has been completely deleted and one that has been edited. Also, any reply that was regarding local involvement was deleted. On my original welcome post I think that I had 9 replies, and it is now down to 3. I never said that I had an email regarding any of this. I just went back to the website to find that all had been edited or deleted. That is the part the made me mad about the whole situation.

I will say there was one guy who said it should be brought up in a meeting. And at that point I did want to check out a meeting and see if I would be able to maybe weigh in with what I have seen around town. Not only dyed fish, but also many fish that people sell around here without letting people know the size or aggression of the fish. This would include many fish on here like dovii, pacu, and other similar fish.

I do not want anyone to stand out picketing stores because they sell these fish, but rather to be educators in the subject. To let customers know what goes on behind the scenes with these fish. Which would create less demand, which in turn would make fewer stores want to carry these fish. I don’t want to boycott any lfs, because I do enjoy several around here.

I would love to join a local club, but as pointed out earlier I don’t want to meet monthly with fish keepers who are just in it for their egos. I would like to join a club that enjoys fish keeping for the fish. And would want to be proactive in the community. If this was any other animal there would be some animal rights group all over this.

I do agree that arguing on the Internet is about the dumbest thing that happens all the time, things change when you are face to face. I originally posted on the forum to get my feet wet, before diving in.

As far as the 14 replies, I just joined this forum because I have several friends who are on this board. Very irrelevant thought, because that doesn’t show my years of experience with fish. I just don’t have the “monster” fish that is talked about on here, so I am not able to reply as much as I would like to. But, I do have some experiences with several different species.

Sorry if I have offended, but I would like to see what did go on. And get the full story on that end as well.

Thank you Repair for your work in this as well.

i think the arguement on the amount of posts another person has is absolutely ridiculous. should have no bearing on what the person says

I didn't say that you should ignore their posts but we should check out what people say untill we get to know them.

Thankyou for responding in this way.... If you got to know the people in the club I'm shure you would find that some of them would be great to know. All orgs have some people that can't get off their high horse but they people in charge are good guys and the few that aren't don't bother the rest of us.

If you were a member you could submit an artical to the news letter and that way you could educated the others about this problem.

I'll be in BeechGrove for the fish odyssey in OCT. make it a point to look me up and we can talk.
