Logging the pond and it's inhabitants

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Actually I was going to say headbanger_jib headbanger_jib is way braver than I am lol; nope not trying that with mine :)
I afraid of bird beaks, especially anything that have hooked beaks.

The wife keeps big and small parakeets.

Morning feeding video, when the sunlight illuminates the pond perfect, and I can see the fish clearly without much reflection.

Glad to see it made the journey nicely, wow what a beautful Goldenhead Jibran, look fwd to seeing it in a tank. Which farm is it from if you care to share?

Yeah I am glad too, the fish ATM is in a tank by itself, have to get it to eat something before I move it to a bigger tank, and then eventually to the pond.

The farm is Aqua Nature Aquatics.

I am not sure now, how things would go ahead, and what might be the possibilities in future.

What do you think of mixing so many different aros in one place.

That's a great albeit difficult question Jibran: I'll be honest in saying my first thought was man, I'd be a bit hesitant to put a show piece like that in a community pond setting, but I must admit this is mostly because I wouldn't be able to see its full beauty as easily, which essentially comes down to being kinda selfish -- the 'best' environment (as long as it wasn't bullied, or small enough to be eaten) would undeniably be a nice sized pond like yours most would say. That said there's some inherent selfishness in the whole fish keeping thing if one thinks about it deep enough, so I don't think anyone would begrudge you either approach.

If I ever did put it in the pond though, as I'm sure you would, I'd monitor it very closely -- emotional issues aside, it would kinda suck to lose a $1,000 or so fish to say a $75 Silver Arowana. That said you've never mentioned much in the way about aggression issues in the pond, so maybe it would be just fine -- it'll be interesting to see which route you eventually take.

Up until now the fish I have added to the pond haven't been anything premium, just HBRTG and xbacks and silvers, but i have been purposefully delaying the release of the red into the pond, albeit, they're logical, the fish even now is quite picky about its diet, and I hadn't photographed it enough.

Although i am very intrigued by the thought of seeing the red get intense in the sunlight, so i will release him to the pond, may be a little later though.

About aggression in the pond, i have not seen much of it, as i very rarely get to sit in front of the Pond for long periods of time.

But during feeding i see a lot of crashing into each other, sometimes even biting eachother while rushing for food.

I do see scale loss and some injuries, but nothing fatal up until now.
Although i have lost one silver to aggression, and one silver to unknown causes.

An update of the albino silvers growing out

Had reduced the tank space with a divider to reduce the fights.

Have removed the divider now that they are ok with each other.
