Your best bet to make new Fish Friends is a LFS. LOL we are treating LFS as bars now. I got a couple fish friends and friends that are getting into fish.

Just like everybody else on this website, I love fish. It's just that nobody I know is a fish enthuiast, and it sucks, because I can't talk to them about fish or anything. One of them keeps some tetras and guppies in a 10 gallon, but he doesn't really care about them. So is this the same story for just about everybody else here?

I choose to hang out at my LFS (a mom & pop establishment), however everyone may not like their LFS as much... Petsmart may not be the coolest place to chill lol. Some areas have fish keeping clubs that meet socially. Have you tried looking into that? I live in Oklahoma and we do... I can't imagine California not having them too.

Most people see my tanks with the big cichlids and look shocked that fish that big are in my house. Most people say they look nice but are too much work. It is tough to find people who enjoy the hobby where I live.

the only person i know who is in to fish is my best friend i met him in second grade and now we are sophomores in high school.

I joined a local fish group. They meet once a month so at least I have that time to to talk about fish. None of my friends outside of the group are into fish, but they dig my tanks. I also hang out at the LFS quite a bit talking with the employees.

HOnestly i got noone around here. THe fish store that has younger people is crap. SO are the people who work there. (THeir knowledge is crap). THe good fish stores around here have older people working there. Sometimes ii can have a nice converstion with them but rarely. THe thing is is that im probably younger than a lot of people on this site. I not even in high skool yet. (soon). SO there is noone my age into the hobby. THe kid that got me into fishkeeping also happens to be the worst fish keeper in the world. Cant even keep an oscar alive for a day. (or a couple). I always tell him to do research nut he says hes to lazy. It is times like that that i wish not a lot of peopel were into the hobby. Less fish would be dieing that way. WTVR. THats my 2 cents. (more like 50).
