Thats sucks bro....Sorry for your loss...it was a beautiful fish !

Thank you and he will be greatly missed.

The General was one of the most recognizes fish on MFK sorry for the tremendous loss, thank goodness that pair was so prolific tons of members will be able to raise his offspring.

Yes i totally agree with you about that. the General really made a name for himself and he was a stud. I am just gratefull that i was able to have and enjoy such a magnificent beast. I just wish i could have spread more of his fry around, although i do have one batch left so ill make the best of it.

sorry for loss bro.

thank you bro

REST IN PEACE GENERAL FROM THE UMBEEKING. A TRUE PRODUCER. VERY FEW FISH CAN OUT PRODUCE THEMSELVES. GENERAL WAS ONE OF THE FEW. JUST LOOK AT HIS FRY. THEY ARE BRILLIANT AND EVEN MORE COLORFUL THEN HE WAS. NOW THE TORCH HAS BEEN PASSED ON TO HIS OFF SPRINGS. THE 5 STAR GENERAL IS PUTTING DOWN HARD FOR HIS OLD MAN. RIP GENERAL

That sucks, I am going to assume a shipping mishap since you tried to sell this pair for so long and last I heard you had a buyer. The videos show just how much of a late bloomer this species is and how great they look as they mature. Would of been nice to see this Umbriferum as a 8 yr old beast. Had a long way to go but defiantly enjoyed checking out the videos. Did you get a chance to measure him before he was out of your hands?

Ok yes ill let the cat out of the bag... It was a shipping incident. everything was packaged fine what happened was the box was dropped. when the buyer recieved the box he told me that the box was damaged and the styro was broken and water was everywhere but the bags were still holding plenty of water, the temps and water quality was normal. we ran thru alot of options as to what else may have occured. the box that was used was fairly large to accomodate such large fish and about 55lbs which made it awkward to carry. there was other precautions made to the packing ensure safe delivery. but things like this happen which makes shipping live fish very risky. this accident was completely out of my hands. I garenteed live arrival so of course i refunded the buyer. I just wish there was a better and safer way to ship. this is my first time loosing any fish shipping UPS ive had a couple close calls with fed-ex and ups due to packages being re-packaged by shipping co. packages lost and they all still made it alive but nothing like this. It scared me pretty bad for my next shippments i sent out after including a large festae pair. but all of those went successful as usual. I talked with ups about the accident and they said that they pack all packages to withstand a fall from shoulder heidth. So yes shipping is very risky and i will continue to garentee live arrival on all my overnite shipments as i am still competent and confidence in my packaging skills. Ive had a hard time dealing with this for a few reasons, first the General was my favorite fish and i babied him, second i was scared that other people would be hesitant ordering from me due to this mishap but accidents happen and the risks are known and i will continue to garentee live arrival and once packages are shipped its all up to the carrier. so i have re-gained my confidence plus i havent had any other doa's and if the pair would have died due to poor packaging then it would have been my fault.

so the moral is shipping is never garenteed! The packaging has to be proper and secure, I garentee because i like good business knowing that once the package leaves my hands the inevitable can happen but i am very confident in my packing and i hope something like this never happens again.

I did measure him prior to shipment and he came in at 15.25" the female was 11.5" Thank you for the nice comments and i have a new general i named 5star, he is the Generals son and will continue his legacy:)
