I don't think they're purposely lying just to earn money. The aquarium requirements are made up by people, and the requirement for an oscar may have been 30g decades ago. I think the info is inaccurate, but the person who wrote it had good intentions. I used that site a few months ago and they had bits of info on a lot of different fish(and lots of other animals too).
If you look at their homepage/whatever it's called,(
www.aqualandpetsplus.com ) you can see that they probably have over 100 pages of info on fish(not to mention the info on live foods, plants, turtles, lizards, snakes, etc.). I'm pretty sure they're located in Iowa, and they don't even ship live creatures. I don't see why someone would take the time to write hundreds of articles and post it on the internet for the world to see when they are located in Iowa.
I admit that the 30g for oscar is inaccurate, but the site in general is great to find small bits of information on random creatures. Thanks to that site, I became interested in SA/CA cichlids and learned about various types of live foods like microworms and infusoria. MFK is certainly more accurate, but what happens to the fishkeepers who haven't heard about MFK? Would you rather have those people trust a petsmart employee telling them to buy a pacu, or would you prefer to have them read
http://aqualandpetsplus.com/Tetras, Pacus.htm and continue researching until they find another source of info(I found MFK...)
Unintentionally misleading =/= business trying to earn money
If you really care, then send them a message telling them that the info on oscars is inaccurate. Don't be so quick to bash them because of the stories on MFK where LFS employees lie to you to get a sale.
