I can care for the turtle. Like I said I'm growing him out. I will decide what I will do to him when he starts to grow.

Dude you can't house your past turtles properly, let alone a snapper and you have oscars....

I have oscars. I can house a snapper. Look up their growth rates. It will take years until a turtle with that growth rate to outgrow a 55 gallon. I can house a snapper. In case you forgot I own a 3/4 acre pond. Which he was taken from. Not necessarily the "wild". He was mine from the start. I own every animal in that pond. The snappers in there were stocked by my family which this one is a decedent of. If I don't have a home for him like the huge tank I'm planning on, then I will return him to my pond. Until then I can house him. Oscars are not my worry. They are and will continue growing. A 55 is large enough to house a full grown oscar. Or two. But it's not recommended. Either way I have other large fish which I need to continue to raise. So I will be setting up a large tank for them.

You have oscars that needs to upgrade.
You don't even have a right tank for a baby snapper.
Growth rates can be variable so your point is moot.
Just because the snapper come from your pond, doesn't mean it is your turtle since turtles can move in and out at anytime.
Since when the wildlife become a property item for you?
Oh yeah you're that guy who thinks the snappers are alligator snappers........
A 55gal isn't hold two fullgrown oscars forever and you have more cichlids in there, not just oscars, but since you are not worrying about them....then you don't deserve them and this turtle at all.

I've kept a Common Snapper for about ten years now, but I never would take one from the wild. I acquired mine as a rescue from a coworker and have had to work quite hard to give her the care and space she requires.

The biggest problem I have with your venture is the fact that you have repeatedly said you plan to eventually "sell" this turtle. Besides being unrealistic, this is also illegal (and unethical). You cannot sell wild-caught animals legally.

It is very sad that you plucked this poor little turtle from its native habitat only to (most likely) kill it. :(

My oscars are fine for a couple more months. I am currently looking for a new tank. If you read the previous comments you would know this. This turtle actually hatched next to my driveway along with hundreds of other snappers. Common snapping turtles will reach about 4 inches in 1 year. If not then its more than likely smaller than 4". I have raised these oscars through an ick outbreak when they both had their tails taken off about 80 percent of their tails and I've raised them through many stressful situations. On top of this they are growing and eating great. And some of the best looking oscars I've ever seen. (well the tiger is, the albinos colors are rather common) I deserve these oscars way more than anyone else. I have raised these oscars through alot and I will continue to raise them through adulthood. And they will remain healthy.

Once again, growth rates are variable so your comment means squat to me.

If you cares about your oscars and other cichlids then let's focus on them and save $$ to buy bigger tank. Let the snapper turtle go it's best for everyone.
