i have to agree, i left out my views on MFK because of his silly comments and shallow mind.

i told quite a few Thai ST and CT fanatic friends to view this web and they had similar comments eventhough their language was not as good as mine but they had the same views.

i guess 8-10 years of just seeing pics or having a couple CT's cannot qualify him for being good (fisheries friends who specialies in Dats still has some dats that we cannot even distinguish yet whether it is ST or CT decendants until today and sex up until 6 inches in size) we people here in Thailand including me whom i know have kept for over 10 yrs and well over in the 100 of them each ranging from 1cm to over 25 inches don't even boast. at the end of the day we people here don't keep or love the best looking ones or ones that have appearances of the extinct Thai ST because having the best doesn't mean being the best which is what i think T1 is trying to be in this forum or the western side of the world but it is your LOVE for them that counts, no matter what it looks or has a full belt or necklace. every DAT has their personaility but there is always one in the tank that we are tied to most, no matter how perfect or low grade it looks. that is called soulmate.

so lets be happy showing how much we take care of these fishes adn how much we like them rather than proving who knows them best or has the most perfect fish heh?

don't forget that these are living things, perfection doesn't make them immortal so buying perfect ones and selling low grade ones just for the sake of perfection doesn't make one better but more like a sinner.

sorry to be a reverend on you and losing the topic of this thread all but DATS here are bought and kept well into their second generation now, way long before it became pets (we used to eat them as a famous delicacy). this message is written on behalf of my friends and myself that we are happy that not just asians are interested in them but lets hope that they are kept with dedication and love not just the seeking of perfection.

Oh
My
God.

That is the most awesome thing pertaining to Dats I have ever read.

Makes me feel happy to just keep dats, even if they do hide, are un stable.
I like them.

I'd love to have a perfectly stable dat, and i may find one someday, but for now I like my unstable IT's. One even has odd-bars, but He's awesome.(I dont know the sex, I just refer to them as him/he)

keeping one ST was not down to it having FBFN i was mainly due to me having it for over 5yrs

what i find strange hear lok is about 10 months you said you were going to translate the videos for us when asked about the captive breeding in thialand you said it was a big secret and wasnt allowed to share the info with anyone then you stamped you foot and said right thats it you were not going to post hear anymore

i use alot of websites and have not seen this translation on any of them

what i am finding hard to beleive hear is if captive breeding is happening then im 100% sure thialand would want to share this info with the rest of the world i also lived in thialand for 2 months and know their are lots of people their who talk many diffrent languages

all we are asking for hear is proof of captive breeding is that really to much to ask to share what you know to help others try to breed ST

Hello T1,
I am new to this forum and am amazed at the number of posts regarding datnoids, a personnal favourite of mine. You seem to be very knowledagble re: the datnoid, so what's your best advice re: stabilising IT's colours. I have a 100G tank, with 3 IT's: a 10", 7" and 6". Also 2 Cambeli: both 4". Other oddballs in tank a BJdempsey 6" and a BlackGKnife 12", and Mono 8" tall.
The 10" IT has been dark brown for 2 years now. SUddenly he lost his beautifiul colours. The 7" not as unstable but still dark, but the 6" has amaxing stipes and is always stable. If I could get my 10" IT to colour up like ny smaller one, I would be incredibably happy!!!
Water quality is not bad at all i.e nitrates 30- 40. and temp 26C. No real bullying in tank. I have tried black background, no back ground and only yesterday, I put Blue background in tank. This is my last effort at trying to stimulate the IT's colours. I am out of ideas.
I commend your Dats shown in your photoes, truely amazing. What advice can you give me? Is the colour just down to luck and genetics?

Note: the dats are all healthy, eating and swimming freely. All signs of good health. The cambellis have always been stable!

Hope you can advise. Thanks.

ITs sometimes just are not stable compared to others in the genus.

Us lots of vertical structure in your tank. In the wild they use their stripes for camouflage.

sorry im no expert but their are plenty of expers hear wanabie breeders even

just out of intrest JD how long have you been keeping ST or are the 2 you just brought your 1st

hears a little something for you 2yrs ago

Ive had had STs now for a couple weeks. Just because you have been doing water changes for the last few years with STs in your tank means jack ****. You have already proved to anyone that has a good understanding of fish and their biology that you are pretty ignorant on many things.

You have officially made it to my coveted ignore list! Your obvious lack of proficiency in the English language and lack of any real knowledge on fish other then how to maintain them in the aquarium is no use for me. :)

this is a fish forum mate not a spelling test

the proof is in the fishkeeping not the spelling

2 weeks :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: and you think you know so much you joker :D

T1,

main reason for not trasnlating is that it doesn't prove captive breeding to you, there is no formula or technique there. second reason, some things you will never understand even with your nonsense two months stay in thailand- wow so long, so don't act smart you got alot more to learn and you ain't learning anything with this i think i know all attitude.

since you want to know so much about it, want to come and stay 20 years here, i bet you'll become a pro.

AH lets go to the SEXING topic. i think i can share some light on this;

PLS go see my new thread.

this thread gives me headaches.

and frankly I'm a little lost.

who said he/she could sex datnoids based on the physical shape?! who said datnoids change sex as they grow?! who said anyone is breeding datnoids in Asia?!

all of the above is unverifiable and just simply untrue (unless you can prove otherwise).

People "read" something and immediately takes it as fact when it's just not the case. Then, the supposed "experts" duke it out but never comes to an agreed conclusion. So why don't we just sit back and admit that we really don't know jack about datnoids and leave it at that.
