Looking for a juvie coral cat

Chrisdef15 - I agree with you on that.

I never said $170 was a reasonable price, I said that if someone cannot afford $170 than chances are they cannot afford to keep the system running or to even get it up. I remember being 16 and money is tight. If your parents are that into this hobby they should understand and help you out if it need it. All I am saying is, $170 shark is the least of your worries. Salt, food, electricity, and just maintenance alone should keep your extra spending money low.

Yeah - I tend to agree - if the $150-170 for a shark is a problem. Then you really aren't going to be able to keep any shark.

Because getting the tank, filtration, salt, sand, &LR set up will cost much more. Not counting food, meds, water changes, equipment repairs etc.

My point was I don't think the $170.00 is the issue other than you're getting ripped off. I don't think they feel they cannot afford the $170 either, I am pretty sure it's a matter of not willing to pay twice as much as you should.

Thank you for understanding, VLDesign.
Money for my setup is not a problem, I don't understand the concern here as it was never a question I brought up. Why would I pay that much for something if I can get it for less than half of that price? Your logic isn't clicking with me. I've been in this hobby a long time, long enough to know what equipment is needed and how much it will cost me. ;)

Anyway, I finally tracked down a local store that will order a coral catshark for me. Hopefully they pull through.

Scuba Kid - I never questioned your knowledge. I am refering to general knowedlege. I said in general if $170 is expensive your in for a big surprise when maintaining a Shark. I am glad you have all the available resources and have found a cheaper Shark. I agree $170 is a very high price, however its going to be one of the cheaper costs of your new project.

Tank size??

I'm a little worried about this too since he didn't want a Juvinile. If you can't fit a juvinile then it could get awfully cramped very soon. Hopefully he has a big tank but just wanted to see the little nipper brought up from a young 'un.

I'm a She, and yes. I'd rather raise a young one than start out with a bigger one.

By the way, thanks chrisdef15 for helping me with my question (sarcasm). I understand your concern about the welfare of the animal, but you didn't offer one ioda of help to me, nor was the setup I'm getting ready for the shark a concern to me. I've been doing my research. ;) The coral cat will be STARTING OUT in a 150 and moving to a bigger home later on.
