Your teug wont outgrow a 120. If its 4x2x2. It will take years to even get close to 20 inches if it gets there. Look around and you will not see very many big ones. If you orderes a small one you will be lucky to get it to 18.

They shipped in yesterday, they are supper cool, the teqgulisi has great coloring with some red, and the retropinis is a good size and has decent pattering. pic will come later today once they have settled in.

the 120 is 60x18 inches.

I'm not sure the prey drive is what caused yours to be a jerk I've kept breeding populations of guppies and mollies in every poly tank I have had and the only jerk I've had was my 1st ornate and he came that way the 1st time he went after another fish was within 30 seconds of being out of the bag luckily he calmed down a little

Maybe mines just a jerk lol. It wasn't her natural personality all along.

I just ordered a tegulisi and a retroponinnis. Polli and palmas will come soon, and I'm getting a 120 gallon for these guys.

+1 Teugs can get bigger than the other ones for sure. For some reason I remember 22-24" for CB but that could be wrong. That might have been the poly measurement on the chart that went up to 30. 30 is WC?

What's Lucifer up to now? (Goes back and checks Teug growth thread).

The poly section sticky "All Bichir(Polypterus) Species-UPDATED"
says Teug max size is 16-27. I personally have never kept a Teug.

Troy1015 : Know you've been keeping bichirs for a while. How many years would you say it takes for one to reach these sizes?

I'm no expert but my friend julian270 jad the biggest one i have seen at 19 20 inches. I have never seen another one that size. Depending if wc or cb but i would estimate 4 years.

There was one or 2 other memebers with big ones they had for 10 15 years and they were not even 27 to 30 inchers.

Lucifer is around the 8" mark. That's 6" in about 5 months. I know polys grow fastest for the first part of their lives and slow down. It'd be nice if Lucifer slowed down so he didn't hit the 15+ mark for 4 years or more. Watching the teug growth thread most are not seeing a slow down at all yet.
