I would get around 5 butterflies then get some Congo tetras for some midwater movement. And then some more rope fish and leopards. And a thought would be a buffalo head chiclid im not sure how aggressive they are though. I will try and go check soon. And I would move the ram he will prob. get eaten.

yeah I'm getting another butterfly tuesday.
ha today I got another knife.. so far I have a african brown and an african black and a black ghost. (they alll get along.... infact all three are hanging out i the same overhang)
I bought another whiptail catfish
and... three more rope fish ha.
I also added a ton of rocks I'll take a picture the next few days.

What's the difference between an African Black knife and an African Brown knife? I thought they were the same fish.

the black is more of a gray with the fin a solid gray
the brown is brown with a white stripe down its back and a clear fin.
it also has the body shape of a black ghost knife.

From your description, the brown one sounds like a Black Ghost knife (BGK). I don't know of any African knives that have a stripe on their back.
Sounds like you got some cool fish in there so far. And before long, the butterfly fish will be taking bugs from your fingers. It's the coolest thing!

right now it runs ha I feed it a wild grasshopper everyday.. why wild.. .. they're free... ha also its not fed with hormones.. or some bs like that.
and the knife is different I think its not black and it doesn't have the tail patch thing.

I haven't tried grasshoppers for my butterflies yet. They get moths (their favorite!), crickets, and floating mini cichlid pellets. They all seem to like that diet.
Where did you get the brown one? I thought those had to be specially ordered. LOL Good luck with them all!
