Yes, this stupid 4,70 m (sometimes 5 m) which circulates in the net and even literature since decades...The 2,40 m figure is actually not the actual record, the length record was 2,78 m. But 2,40 are already very unusual and freakish. Now if you look at the comparison with the hypothetic 2,70 m giant, you can see how much bigger it would have to be, around eight times the weight of a 2,40 m specimen, which is already a giant itself. The fact that the alleged weight of the obscure giants is often cited in the 300-400 kg region, shows alone how ridiculous and obviously untrue this dates are, because a real wels of this size would weigh much more.
