I'm thinking of getting a catfish for my 120 gallons. I don't have any bottom fish as of yet. Here are some characteristics that I am looking for:

- I'm not looking for a monster catfish or anything that grows above 12" (i.e. RTC, most shovel nose)
- preferably something that doesn't grow really really slow or really fast, if that makes sense.
- Not aggressive toward other tank mates (currently have two 4-5" NTT dats and four 3-4" clown loaches).
- colorful catfish.
- an active catfish or one that I don't have to worry searching for in my tank (I know most catfishes hide or are nocturnal).
- not something super rare or fancy $$$.

I was thinking about raphael, irwini or jaguar cat. I don't mind buying online if the price is right. But can't find any at above 4", I don't want them to become my datnoid meals. I found spotted and stripped raphael at local LFS but all around 1".

Any idea? Which cat would you recommend from your own experience? Thanks for looking.

I personally like the look of four line pims.don't get huge and are somewhat active

4 line is a good idea.
Personally I like pimelodus ornatus very pretty little fish, max size 30cm/12 inch, very active. Both of these will eat smaller fish so depends on your future plans?

I'm also looking for something like this. Man those irwini look awesome!
I started a thread recently about White Catfish/bullheads. They aren't particularly colorful or active, but I love them. I have fond memories of catching bullheads as a kid :)

I'm not aware of any Lancer that tops a foot.

Sun Cats are super fun but I would worry about it trying to eat your CL's. imo your main hurdle is finding a non-predatory cat.
