That's 85 gallons. Aside from neons, dwarf gourami and swordtails, how about trying some snails? Let me know which ones you like and I'll run in a few suggestions for you along with advice for calcium supplements to keep healthy shell growth. They can be fascinating to say the least and are compatible with hillstream loaches and kuhli loaches. Both loach species are also compatible with shrimps however hillstreams prefer cooler waters with powerful flows so hillies may be out of the question. Do you plan to make the tank planted?

I haven't looked into swordtails just yet I don't think. How big do they get? I do have an albino mystery snail in there. I'm going to look into kuhli loach and see if it's something I like. I have some plants in there already and plan on getting more... I just need better lighting for those high level lighting plants.

Swordtails can reach 5-6 inches max. They'll be fine. No need to save the fry. Swordtails tend to proliferate rather quickly especially in a heavily planted tank.

No worries, I was just teasing. I am sure everyone here on MFK enjoys ANY fish question you throw at them. Although if you navigate to the top right of the page you will see a box and choose other sites to visit. There is one called Aquaria Central, I am sure they have more info on the types of fish you would like to add. Please post pictures of your aquarium. We all love pictures :D

Take Care and happy fish keeping

I will post a pic up on this thread in the next few days. Maybe you guys can give me some ideas on how to fill it up well.

Zebra danios
Keyhole cichlids
Large plecos if you want a big fish
silver dollars
Red tailed shark
20 more neons

Sound good that .

If it was me tho , skip the pleco and the Dollars , add some Barbs ( Tigers and/ or Cherry ) and add a diffrent type of terta too ( something like Blood Fin , Ember and/ or Lemon ) . Maybe a few Rams and Hatchets aswel .

Too late on the pleco, already have me one of those guys. I would really like to get the tiger/cherry barbs, but have just heard too many times that they are aggressive. I really do not want them eating my pleco since I just paid $40 for the thing. So, are they or aren't the aggressive? I've been looking into the tetras you and the other guy suggested, but they are more for filling the tank up a bit IMO. I would like to have 2 or 3 good size fish between 6-9 inches. I have been thinking about picking me up a rainbow shark. If the barbs aren't aggressive, would a rainbow be alright with them?

Tiger barbs are agressive but you can curb these habits but keeping 8+but keeping 16+ is a better idea,WHat type of plec did you get? Also the 'sharks' are ok if kept singly as they fight in more nimbers. The cherry barbs are good community fish as far as I know,You might want to keep some moonlight gouramis as they are bigger fish and maybe some ornate cnetopma but they are risky,Angels could work with fish bigger than baby neons (0.5''+)

Tiger barbs are not that aggressive , there would never kill and eat a large fish like a Pleco , keeping them in a largeish group 8+ will curb the agro in them more is better tho .

Gouramis are a great medium size fish for Barbs , Tetras , Ect .

Something like a couple of blue or Gold Gouramis or Banded , Moonlight Gouramis are great too .

I have had a tank full of all diffrent type of Gourami along with Lemon and Chery Barbs , Tetras , Corys and SAE' too with very little Aggro' in the whole tank .

When you consider the width of the tank, none of these are appropriate.

I have chosen the Bosemani rainbowfish to go with. Thanks for all the input everyone. As soon as I kill off the Ich in my tank I will be stopping by the lfs to pick a few up. I think they will make a nice addition to the tank.
