I am leaning heavily towards getting some Dats,I will be looking them up on the inter net,but would really like some info from some of you guys, things like what sized tank do i need for 2 of them, are Silver Dollars good tank mates for them, are they picky eaters, and anything else you guys could add would be really appreciated!!!Also i live in Massachusettes and they seem like they are really hard to get around here.Anyone know where i can order some cheap????:nilly:

There are a couple of different types of Datnoids and all get large (over 16") but it takes them a very long time to grow. It is kind of hard to get Dats on the East Coast for a normal price. Silver dollars are fine as tank mates.

Use the search function to search for 'Datnoids' or whichever type you will decide on.

EDIT: Oh yeah, they are picky eaters and most people have hard time getting them off live food.

dont want to hijack topic but do dats like strong current or do they prefer slow water?

They make their own current.

very true on the fact that they are picky eaters... i have couple datnoids and 1 of em wouldnt take nothing but live food. i didnt notice at first so i only threw in krill until 1 of em just starved himself to death..he chose to die rather den eat froze or dried food.

also..i dont mean to steal dis thread..but i was wondering what the natural fishmates were in the wild for the datnoids...what other types of fish live together in the same river as the datnoids
