Looking for info on Dats....

hey steve..i was just gonna ask for some tips on how to get datnoids on krill and non-live food..i only ask because my last attempt failed, and it resulted in the death of my widebar..any steps or methods u specifically use?

I have just always been lucky..all my tigers have gone straight onto prepared foods right from the start.

Maybe someone else can provide some techniques.

From what I've experienced in keeping Dats, their natural competition for food will lead to quick acceptance. If you have one that will take prepared foods, you keep him with those that won't and use the starvation method (to a degree...don't kill your fish) and only offer feeders once a week or so, and only make it enough to just get by. Eventually through hunger and competition they SHOULD accept prepared, though the larger the Dat, the more difficult this process becomes. Silver Dats have been the easiest to convert...Thin Bars the most difficult...but that just may be due to the personalities of the fish I've received
