Oh I have definitely been there before with fish coming in much smaller than they were listed as.It has caused me to set up special quarters for their safety until they grew big enough to be trusted around other fish.
Luckily, I don't have any monsters since I haven't gotten the new tank yet so they are in a 55 gallon QT tank. Lima came in perfect size and is eating bloodworms and brine shrimp already. If I had my red tail cudas or payara the black ghost would have been lunch. I am going to order again from Aquascape the fish are top quality and shipping was perfect and the fish came in early.
I am gonna order some fancy plecos, , and some of their orange cheek black bars probably the end of the month. Hopefully their phones will be back up and running.
I wish AquaScape would hire me to be one of the reps I am good at computers and typing I would be more than happy to post updated stocks on MFK and other sites... All I would need from them of course is new arrival list, etc. Then all they need to work on is answering the phone.
Knives are susceptible to harassment. My africans tried to kill each other for the first few hours lol
Make sure to get the BGK eating
LOL. African knifes are cool, the last three I had funny story all got eaten. 1 got eaten by a motoro stingray. 1 got eaten by my biggest Thinbar datnoid. The last got eaten by a large Peacock bass I was holding for a friend. The knifes were 4-5'' each big.... I was so shocked, they were my friends too I was holding them. He was pissed lol. I thought they were too big for the ray and datnoid.
This is one of the reasons I haven't gotten another afer.Mine is so big and used to being the boss of the tank I'm afraid it wouldn't take very kindly to a newcomer.
Oh nice, you have a black ghost knife, KEWL! Would love to see a pic.
Yeah afers are nasty. Nigri not so much, and both were added within a month of each other I think. The smaller one defending its turf, now there is very little aggression between them. Only the occasional nip from the larger one but nothing major
BGKs are very territorial as I understand it?
Yes, my old BGK was very mean would chase my old fire eel out and would nip at fish. I rehomed him due to this and didn't get a chance to see his personality. But it's a good thing my new BGK is small so he will grow with the tankmates he's with.
