Over the last few months I’ve really lost interest in the hobby, fish seem boring to me now, I love my fish in my pond but not in my tank. I’ve started to sell my fish in my tank and have a whole new stock to re ignite my interest in the hobby. All the fish I want though, I can’t have. I’m thinking of moving over to reptiles as in my opinion they are easier to care for and more interesting right now. Any suggestions to make me spark an interest in fish keeping again.

My advice would be don't force it, do what you want to do. If you are losing interest in fish, go keep reptiles for a while, and maybe give it another shot in a year or five. I've taken some pretty long breaks from the hobby in the past. Life gets in the way, or sometimes you just wear yourself out.

What have you kept, what are you keeping and how many tanks?...
Sometimes my enthusiasm wanes but usually a few months pass and I'm right into it again.
I have always had at least 1 fish since my teens, even if it's just been a planted 2g Betta.
I've done reptiles and tbh they do way less than fish. I currently just have a 6.5' boa named Thor.

Right now I’ve only got a 125, I think I will keep with it and do a solo wet pet for less hassle of trying to find compatible fish and stuff, should be less maintenance too. I will take a break though as I’m redoing the floor in my room so the tank will have to be shut down anyway

I agree with what the others have said. It comes and goes.
Try a different direction. Keep a different species, or switch to planted tank.
A few years ago I went through a time like this. I was losing interest in the fish I was keeping.
So I switched it up, I got a few different species that kinda peaked my interest and got into breeding.
It's one thing to keep a fish, it's a whole new game to try to successfully spawn and raise the fry of that same fish.
Breeding isn't for everyone but, it was just a different challenging aspect of fish keeping that brought me back into the hobby.

I love my red isletus Midas in my 100g, it's a whole different feel having the one wet pet in a tank compared to my 300g common... I like em both tho.
Good examples of a wet pet I would comsider for a 125 are;
Midas
Gold wolf
Red wolf
Manny or black piranha (maybe out grow one day)
Elong piranha
Kissing gourami (12" max size like a mini GG)
Nice wild Oscar
Butti
Channa ornatipinnis if legal
Fahaka, (outgrow eventually) or another active puffer?
Gulper catfish
Borneo python spiney eel.
Archer fish
South American leaf fish.
Black ghost knife fish
Banded tiger knife fish
Fresh water barracuda
Uaru
I would add a nice l095 plec for the friendly ones. So.wet pet plus a plec;-)

I like some of these suggestions, I’ve heard buttis get really lathargic and lose colour. Is this true and also would a red or gold wolf be active enough to fill up the tank or would it look empty with just then

Ime reds are active after a week or two, I picked mine from a group and he was great till he jumped out.. folds never stop moving by all accounts. Gold's can get 16" but rarely pass 12- 14" in an aquarium from my understanding.
