the water parameters

ph 7
ammonia 0
nitrate 0-5
nitrite 0
temp 84

Vamp, I skimmed the fatty liver article, but it seemed a little inconclusive to me. He was eating. a mix of hikari pellets and market shrimp for treats. As bummed as I am I'm not really worried about the tank mates there all looking great and eating. thanks for all the kind words

Just curious why is your water temp so high? Not trying to say in any way shape or form that the temp had anything to do with it, just curious if you have a reason for keeping your water so warm? So sorry for your loss, that has got to be devestating, he was a good lookin ray.

I guess its just preference, all the tank mates aros, dats, and pbass dont seem to mind. if you ask around most ray keepers seem to be on the warm side.

The temp is fine you could go in the 90s and they wouldn't be fazed. Especially cichla.

nitrate??? You mean nitrIte?

No I am nitrate, I never confuse the two....and I do not believe that anyone keeping rays has a 0-5 ppm nitrate reading without a massive constant drip or 90% water changes...the only other people have not cycled the water.

If there is a large drip then I would want to see a copper reading

Many of us use a drip and regularly record 20ppm.

I have massive pothos growth, 30 gal per day drip and 30% water changes weekly and still my tank will not go below 20ppm.

Chemical test - SHAKE THE CHEMICALS LIKE THERE IS NOT TOMORROW some of the chemical tests aren't accurate until you shake the crap out of them.

Test strips - :thumbsdow:nono:

Srry for your loss bro. Great tank. Temperatures are fine they won't hurt the fish.
