IME they slow down when they hit the 5-6" mark.....which isn't necessarily a bad thing - lighter bioload :)
oh. lol you posted that while i was posting a quoted reply to jag123's reply...
so, how long would it take for a 3" one to get to 6"?

hmm... i probably wont get the jurupari then. i dont see any point in having it for 2 years and it not growing very much, then haveing to get rid of it because ive got to leave for college (im a high school sophomore)

how about the growth rates and prices of the other 2 eartheaters ive listed?

Im a sophomore too! lol

geophagus steindachneri are pretty small like 4" max but I have found them to be agressive.. I started out with four and soon the dominant larger one picked on the other ones and they eventually died until the dominant one was left...

my old stein. even picked on my g. abalios that were twice his size.. they're growth rate is faster than the jurupari... i dont really remember how long i had the stein/how long it took him to get full grown

i was looking at peathenster's topic in the media lounge and those A. heckelii look pretty cool...
whats their growth rate and how much do they usually cost?

Cool! lol
i probably wont go with a steiney then... it looks like A. heckelii would be a good choice for my tank as well...

im relatively broke at the moment and ive only got $30 in my wallet, so i think ill visit my lfs instead of ordering fish. unless i wait a while to get some money... then i can order.

see if your lfs can order from him....... your lfs may bumb up the price but at least you will get the fish you want... unless they can find them at a wholesaler

yeah took a while to get the pics in order ;)

For me it was about 3 months. They had a major growth spurt then that's pretty much it :D

my lfs is already overpriced. its the only lfs i know of in CT that stocks exotic wich like gar, rtc, tsn, rays, exotic plecs, exotic cichlids, etc. so they can kind of get away with charging a bit extra. i tihink ill go with the juruparis if i end up getting an eartheater.
