lower jaw polys in a 55gal?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Go get two cb endli and two ornate when your ready, you will be fine, just make sure you feed every other day once they hit 6", then when you get a new tank, the cb and ornate will be big enough if you decided to get a WC specimen. Most my WC poly i got 7"-9" and they grow about 1" per month then slow down once 14".

Right good point.

If you decide which im pretty sure you will to get some wc most of them come in aywhere from 7 to 12 inches your ornate and endli will have a nkce head start by then

I had a 75g and i fit 8 ornate, 8 cb endli, 4 senegal, 4 albino sen, 2 delhezi, 2 gold dust, 2 palmas polli, 2 BV and 2 nigerian lap. To be honest they will be still in that 75g from march till november of 2016. I just got lucky with the 180g for $250, but i had them in the 75g for 6 months. Thats why when i transfer them in the 180g most of them were 6". If you want cb endli and ornate go for it, grow them out in the 55g, it takes time for them to be full size, im not saying do what i did but its a good example what you can do with the 55g. Like i said before its better to grow them now before you get a WC specimen since most WC are being sold 7"+. And growing them in a smaller tank you can observe them better, better than having a 2" poly in a 6' tank.

You must have done more than weekly water changes?? And had no other fish in your tank... This is insane to me!

Do you think you'll be able to get a 75?

I really like jaws' question re: if you had the large tank now, what would you stock it with. It's a good place to start!

I love my current two, I think it will work out for me long term - hopefully my Moke will grow fatter as well as longer by the time I get any LJs.

Twice a week WC, 20%-30% wednesday and deep cleaning like glass, filter and sand vaccum plus 50%-60% water change on sunday.
Yes,no other fish in the tank just polys.

How frequently are ornates aggressive? I think they are so cool looking but I hesitate because I read so many stories about them causing problems.

I am so tempted by the Teugs WetSpot has right now.

But I am in a similar spot with a smaller tank that won't be upgraded for 1+ year.
