Lowering Nitrates

Maybe you meant a different person, but I was asking about parameters and bioload since I didn't see them mentioned. Usually that's the first place to start and in the three pages I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned.
Ph is 7.6. Temp is 76. I have some tetras, small catfish (under 2 inches), gouramis, and some other miscellaneous stuff.
I’m not going to rely on this but is there a medicine/chemical that could aid with lowering them and keeping them there?
Pothos might help you to keep nitrates low. It's a plant, you just let roots be in tank water. I would definitely recommend to improve your water changing method, python or a pump with hose would help a lot.
Terrestrial plants like Pothos has the ability to use up some nitrate, but to make a serious dent, the amount of plant life needs to be far greater than the amount of fish.
I use terrestrial plants but still fo every other day 40 -50% water changes on my 180 to keep nitrate below 10ppm.

There are nitrate resins BUT you are just substituting nitrate for something else like chloride ions in the water. A submersible pump (even a hagen powerhead) and vinyl tubing would make your water changes a lot easier if you don't want to just use a hose. Pothos will slow down nitrate production but not enough to reduce it without introducing a larger amount to your tank, like a lush carpet on top.
