Would this siphon be as good as the python?

I've been there in this situation myself.
I put down the buckets and picked up a python from Amazon. Or if you are handy, I got a submersible pond pump. I hooked a 1/2 in hose to the outflow connection and ran it to the nearest drain. It's going to drain the volume quickly. Then to refill, I reversed the hose to pull water back it too the tank. Iet a 5 gallon bucket full after adding dechlorinator and plugged it in and keep the bucket filling until tank was topped off.

As far as lowering my nitrate problem with similar tank size, I cleaned the filter more, added filter floss, and a bag of purigen. It worked well for me. You could also add some more bio media if possible. Or maybe a pothos plant with roots in the water in a small basket covering the roots with pebbles. There's a lot of different ways to control nitrates.

I use my toilet to drain...pool hose with pvc ends to hook on to tank (as long of a pipe into the tank as I want to do water change) and another pvc hook for the toilet. Drains 3/4 of my 150 gal in about 5 min.
I have a problem before because I house near the farm and use well water they are contaminated with the time of the year when they dumb the fertilize down the ground my tap water start hight nitrite you have to check your water from tap water.
That should be fine. Looks like it's smaller than a python but your tank is not so big. The python is simply a long hose with an adapter for your sink, opening the bottom of the adapter allows running water to create suction (thought I prefer to just drain out a window, end of hose lower than tank). Then when you close the adapter (or screw hose into sink if you drain outside like me) water just gets pumped into the tank. I've been doing this for years, treating water as it goes into the tank like Rocksor advised. You could pretty easily make your own at the hardware store if you were inclined, and they had a good plumbing section.
