yes and yes. they are definitely not the easiest to come by so when you can find them they will fetch a pretty high price.

I would think they would be more expensive in Europe, if they are available at all. Only one person is breeding them over here. I get $25 an inch. Ken

Theres more than you think over here Ken...

Ross at oddballsexpress has a fair few for sale which he got from Jeff Rapps and Don conkel... Rick Thibert has a good number hes growing too breed. Ross also has a few pairs (Yet too spawn) in his personal collection. A few others have a number in there collections...

i would not have thought there is any in Ireland at the moment. if you contact ross evans, he will likely ship them to you although they wont be cheap.

i think his prices are:

£15 - 1-1.5"

£25 - 2-2.5"

£50 - 3-3.5"

also you will have to pay postage which could up to or more than £25

who is that one? I can't believe that there's only one person here breeding them. I'm sure Rapps still has a breeding pair, Mo has a pair that are either breeding or about to and I'd be willing to bet that Rusty Wessel still has at least one breeding pair. That's just to name a few.

Rusty has not had a spawn in several years, he has several tanks of them, Mo's has spawned only once to my knowledge, he has several males and one female. Jeff gets his from the same place I do, I also know Conkel recently bought 400. Eddie Martin set up a pond with 6 pairs from our collecting trip on the farm in Florida he rents space from and this is the only commerical production. I manage to get 50 from him every month or so. I'm sure with time as more get in the hobby more people will be successeful with them. Ken

I have two spawning pair. They spawn about twice a year. I generally just raise some, give some away and feed the rest to the other fish.
