M.I.L.F ~ Man I Love Fahaka

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How old are your fahakas you guys are keeping in community setups? I just got a little dude about 3" and I might try to keep him with a pleco (12"). If I can get him to live with anything else I'd like to try a clown or black ghost knife. Everything I read said no but there's like 4 of you guys who got them in mixed tanks so maybe.

Iv had my fahaka with tnaks mates for about a year or 2 and iv only lost one bushynose pleco. right now hes with a bushynose pleco,15 giant danios, a simese flying fox, and 2 black skirt tetras. I have tried soem others that didnt work out, but so far these gusy ahve bene in there for almsot 2 years atleast steady eccpet for one bushynose. hes about 12"

sorry i dont have pics of the other gusy right now, but they eat together and my fahaka gets inches away form them and doesnt show any aggression.

Thanks and that's a beautiful fahaka. I hope mines looks like that when he's bigger. Then I can justify setting up a 180 gallon just for him.

I have another question when he was smaller did yours have those same markings? I've seen pictures of large fahakas that had the same mottled pattern as my juvenile but I've also seen pics of fahakas that had the same great patterns as yours.

after reading the whole post it seem fahakas are more of a 50/50 fish with tankmates not 99/1 lol amazing fish

Thats how it seems on this thread. But, everyone swears their terrors and mine hasn't disproven that yet.

I keep juvi white cons with mine. Most of the time he igores them and they show no fear of him. Every once in a while I'll find one on the bottom with several triangle chunks missing.

I have 2 that are now about 7" or so and when they were around 5" I tried putting them together in a 70 gal. It worked for about 15 seconds and then they started circling each other and I knew they had to come out fast. We got in a group of three 2" juvies at the store and I freaked out when i saw they shipped them in the same bag. They were all ok and 1 sold right away. The other 2 lived in a planted 75 for about 2 weeks before the larger one put the smaller in the corner for the rest of the time they were together....

My largest one has an amazing personality and demands attention whenever he sees me. He will go to the surface and splash water to get my attention. If he sees me feeding my moray eel he also goes nuts since he knows he gets the same food and wants his share.

weird you would not see any evidence left if mine were to attack :)

Have you seen them hunt snails yet? They will blow the substrate around to find them. It is really cool to watch.
