I about to order a mag drive from drfostersmith and not sure what size pump.

Questions, what are you planning on running with it? And why did you choose a Mag Drive. Quite One pumps are less expensive and pump more Gph, and are also magnet driven pumps. Hmmm, what is the measurements of you tank?

72"X24''X24'' im run it with two powerheads of some sort. ive just read around saying mag drive is rather good from many users
quiteone pumps are good too?

I ran my 180g UGF for 8 years and never had much trouble until gravel was pulled into the impeller but I just bought a new impeller. After anothr 2 or so yrs the unit starting ,aking more noise than I wanted so I purchased another Quite One but so after my tank split it's seams so. I'm just saying thats all. If you compare the two pumps the Quite One is less expensive in electrical usage, cost. The Quite One 4000 moves 1017Gph using 50 wattswith 10.2ft HT and cost under $65 while on sale.
While the Mag Drive #12 goes for $135, the #12 - Max HT 15', 1200Gph, a uses 110watts.

If you really want a great pump and have no need for using it inline then go for the Little Giant #4-MDQX-SC, $155, 17' HT, 1,325Gph 1" inlet 1"outlet, 145watts. These pumps last and last, great work horses. But they cost. But again there not submersible.

i got a 180g and im running a mag12 in my 55 gal sump. Got lots of flow far better then the quiet one i think. The pump itself is quiet. 20+ dats 6-12", 1-24" silver and 6 3" clown loaches. I got about 20 gals bio balls and 10 liters of bio rings in the sump though. 1-ac110.
